A really interesting recent project, for my client Learning Design Solutions, was to build out a course on the Moodle Cloud platform that had been designed with the assistance of AI. The use of AI made a significant impact on the hours required to design the course. You can read more about the design process on the Learning Design Solutions website.
The Moodle Cloud platform of course has all the great things that Moodle is renowned for, like discussion forums, quizzes and the ability to create HTML pages within your course.
The course is called Principles of Responsible Management, is 4 weeks of content and is at university masters degree level.

A feature of the course build was using AI media creation tools to illustrate and enhance the learning content.
The media assets I created with AI included sophisticated image generations via a series of prompts. I was able to create specialised images very specific to the content. The image generation results were quite spectacular such as this image of old and new energy technologies featuring an oil rig juxtaposed with solar panels and wind turbines.

I also created Articulate Storyline elements where the learners are given scenarios where there are several decision points, thereby allowing the learner to problem solve. Articulate Rise elements were created for interaction.
Video is an important and integral aspect of the course and this is where the results from AI tools were the most jaw dropping. Have a look at this AI presenter to see what I mean:
Amazing isn’t it!
At this point you might be thinking; Aren’t you worried that AI will do you out of a job?
Well no is my answer. It’s a tool. An amazing tool for sure and I have enjoyed learning the new AI tools and fitting them in to my workflow. And of course it’s new applications to learn to keep current and relevant. I love learning myself so what is not to like. “Every day is a learning day“ as the old saying goes.
